The girls were treated to a special boxing day on 26th December 2017 when their MP, Hon Naisula Lesuuda paid them a visit. In her speech, she thanked the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate for standing in the gap and saving the young girls from early marriages and supporting them to get an education. She said education is the only sure tool to ensure the girls have a brighter future.
She urged the girls to work hard in school, appreciating the opportunity that life had given them. She asked them to look up to her as a role model because she had risen to become the first female elected MP from Samburu as a result of education and determination.
In her closing remarks, she promised to continue supporting the center as she had made it a tradition to visit on the 26th of December, a day that is famously known for exchanging gifts and spreading the joy especially to the of the less fortunate in society. She proceeded to present the goodies she had brought to the girls and they were very excited.
Indeed it was a perfect Boxing day for the girls at Suguta Rescue Center.
